To the Grasso Family,
My deepest sympathies, your father was the first captain to call me by name as a rookie partolman. I had a lot of respect for him and was proud to serve under him. Even though he was a captain and I was a rookie patrolman he had confidence in me to do the job right. That meant a lot to me and as a captain now I try to emulate his ideal of leadership.

To the Grasso Family:
The world is a little poorer and sadder for the loss of Charles Grasso. He was a man's man and a great human being. I owe much to Capt. Grasso and will never forget his kindness when I lost my own father some 35 years ago.
The Grasso family can feel proud of having shared his life. God bless you all. We will all share your loss.

To The Grasso Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time, I can't imagine how difficult it has been for all of you to loose such a wonderful part of your lives, but I hope it gives you comfort to know that a piece of him lives on in each and everyone of you, whether it is in the flesh or in memory. I hope as the days go on, you will be able to feel how present he still is in each and everyone of your lives. I am very fortunate to have been able to meet him and his beautiful wife last summer at Morgan's first birthday party and enjoyed every moment spent with them, they are truely soulmates. My heart goes out to all of you at this time. Laurie, if you need anything, please let me know.
Love,
Shannon

To the Grasso Family,
My deepest sympathy at your recent loss. My prayers are with you during this time of reflection. I can only say the Cap, as he was effectionetly known around the PD, was one of the most respected men in the department. I had the pleasure to serve and work for him for over 20 years. He worked hard and played hard. I can recall conversations I had with my brother who worked with the Cap during the riots, saying there was no one better to work with. He was my mentor and friend and will be missed.
